The Year of the Dragon
The dragon is one of the most revered and auspicious symbols in Chinese culture and astrology. It represents power, strength, good luck, and wisdom. According to the ancient Chinese zodiac, every birth year is assigned one of 12 animals, each of which determines the personality and destiny of the person born in that year. The dragon is the only mythical creature among the 12 animals, and it is considered the most desirable sign to be born under.
The Most Desirable Sign to be Born Under
Many Chinese parents hope to have children in the year of the dragon, believing that they will inherit the remarkable qualities of the dragon and enjoy a prosperous and successful life. In fact, the year of the dragon consistently sees the highest number of births in the 12-year cycle, as many couples plan their pregnancies to coincide with the dragon year. The next year of the dragon will be in 2024, and it is expected to bring a surge of births in China and other countries with large Chinese population.
Are you a Mother of Dragons?
If you gave birth in the years 1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, or 2024, then yes! *The only thing to note is that the Chinese new year starts in late January or February. Technically, this may leave out some of the mothers who gave birth early in the year, and include some who gave birth early in the following year. But don’t worry, many people just celebrate the year of the dragon during the full year of the Gregorian calendar!
